About Habitat

Our Mission
Habitat for Humanity of Southern Santa Barbara County works in partnership with people everywhere, from all walks of life and all faiths, to develop communities with people in need by building and renovating houses, so that there are decent houses in decent communities.

Our Vision
A world where everyone has a decent place to live.

At Habitat for Humanity of Southern Santa Barbara County we offer low income families a hand-up, rather than a hand-out. We provide tangible, life-changing results and believe that by providing safe, decent, affordable homes, we are able to open a door for impoverished families, allowing them the opportunity for increased self-esteem and self-reliance. With the stability of a permanent home, families can devote increased attention to jobs, education and health.

We build simple, quality homes in partnership with low-income families and the community. We are able to build homes cost effectively by combining government funds, volunteer labor, national partnerships, sweat equity and community support. For information on how Partner Families are selected and qualify, please click here.

We also preserve homeownership by helping low-income homeowners who cannot afford to make their own home repairs through our program "A Brush With Kindness."  Through this program we are able to serve additional families in our community.

As part of our mission to serve local families, Habitat operates a ReStore in Goleta. Building materials are for sale at prices that make it possible for families to renovate their homes. All proceeds from the ReStore go directly back to Habitat and help build more affordable homes in our community. The ReStore has directed over 200 tons of usable building materials away from local landfills. Get involved today…Donate, Volunteer, Advocate.
